Calculating the Carbon of Making a BESS
Part of the process for calculating the carbon impact of a battery energy storage system is to define the initial expenditure of carbon required to create it. We will explore the main constituents within a BESS and the carbon cost they have.
By breaking down a system it is possible to compare the differences between a first life and second life system. This section aims to highlight the carbon impacts that arise from the manufacturing, assembly and installation of a BESS, and concludes with an example of a calculation carbon calculation of a Connected Energy E-STOR system.
